So it begins...

Hello everyone out there! So begins a new chapter in my blogging life. I have decided to make a departure from the blog about herbs and fiction in order to create a blog which captures the life of a freelance writer. I am not trying to claim that I am anything special. I am just your average guy looking to make a name for himself in the world.

Okay, getting to know me time. I went to UGA - GO DAWGS! - for four years and have nothing but debt to show for it. I ended my career there as a computer science major, but no I cannot program you some killer software. After college I went into the restaurant industry where I worked in every position up to Sous Chef over a 14 year career. My last job in the restaurant industry was for a local restaurant called Ecco where I was the baker.

I have lived in Colorado, Georgia and Florida and then back to Georgia in that order. I long to move back to Colorado, but mostly I just want to get away from the HOT weather. I love the people in Georgia, I love the SEC and I love the scenery, I just cannot take all of the moisture and the pollen counts high enough to actually choke you. This I am not joking about. The weather reports in the Spring and early Summer warn those with allergies, respiratory conditions and the elderly to stay indoors if at all possible. YIKES!

I have a great wife and two great kids. My son just started SCAD - Savannah College of Art and Design - and my daughter has yet to even start school. It is a wide gap, but it helps to keep me on my toes. It is amazing to see the two of them and how well they get along together. They help me to stay feeling youthful, proud and scared all at the same time.

I love food and I have the physique to prove it. My body also backs up my love of beer. I like beer with a lot of flavor like Guiness - hence the name of the blog. I can also enjoy light beers like Miller Light as long as they have flavor and I am in the mood. I still enjoy cooking and making great food. I made risotto with salmon and broccoli casserole for dinner tonight.

I do not know where this blog will lead to, but I am excited to see who will come along on this journey with me. I look forward to all questions, suggestions, comments and more. Come back again soon, and do try to tip your waiter.

Thank you,
Brian Bedell
